Wow can you believe that it has been a whole 4 months since we last caught up with Nahliyah? We were able to check in with Ms. Nahliyah and get an amazing recap of what she’s been up most recently, and whew she has definitely been a busy bee.
Christmas was slightly abnormal for her this year, as it was for most of the entire world with the pandemic. Nahliyah and her mom were able to take a trip to Tucson AZ to spend some time with her Nonnie, Aunt and her cousin Jenesis. Nahliyah’s Christmas List has never been super long because she is not the child that asks for too much but this year there were a few “must haves” she had to ask Santa about. This years list had makeup at the very top and Nahliyah was ecstatic when she saw that Santa had left her eyeshadow pallets, lip gloss, nail polish, a personalized necklace, cool clothes and a karaoke machine. Someone was obviously on Santa’s nice list!
Shifting to the first of the year Nahliyah took a trip to Flagstaff to have some playtime in the snow where she was able to stay in a tiny house that was located on a local farm where she was able to see horses, peacocks, goats and even en emu. The highlight of the trip was when Nahliyah was able to go snow tubing at Flagstaff Snow Park where there were seven different hills to tube down. She was completely fearless shooting down each hill with zero hesitation every single time. After a weekend filled with adventure she ended the trip the only way she should have which was with some delicious s’mores.
As you all are aware Marcus’s birthday is on January 23rd, and every year Nahliyah and her mom grab dinner with his friends as well as fraternity brothers. So this year was no different, and the plan was to go to Marcus’s favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse but unfortunately due to the pandemic they would not accommodate a large party. The group decided to act fast and switch the plans to a new establishment called Parlay where they sat and were able to fellowship in honor of Marcus. Happy Heavenly Birthday Marcus!
February was a pretty relaxing month for Nahliyah filled with virtual school, and hanging with her Mom. She had her yearbook picture taken from home for the first time and her mom had to upload it to the schools portrait website for others to view. The pandemic has brought a lot of first’s her way and virtual schooling will remain the norm for Nahliyah at least for the remainder of this school year.
March always brings up two really big events for Nahliyah’s household. Spring Break and the anniversary of her father Marcus’s death. So for spring break she was able to enjoy some much needed quality time with her Nonnie in Tuscon, AZ. While in Tuscon, AZ Nahliyah was able to play with all of the neighborhood kids which was of course one of the biggest highlights due to her being away from kid interactions during the pandemic. Her Spring Break was filled with fun and loads of adventure. She ended her break with a fun trip to the Desert Botanical Garden based in Phoenix AZ.
As you can see Nahliyah is living it up, growing extremely fast and keeping nothing but the most beautiful smile on her face. March 21st marks three years since she lost her father Marcus and it is very ironic how time can move so slow and so quick simultaneously. He lives on through Nahliyah, and we cant wait to see what new adventures and milestones she has conquered next.
Until Next Time!
